Sub-shrine: Okage Myojin おかげ明神
Next to Haraedo no Ohkami, there is Okage Myojin shrine. The Deity enshrined there make our hope come true. Don’t tell her all of your hopes. She can handle only one of them.
Behind the shrine, there is a cedar tree. We can many halls on it. The tree would be used when people put someone under curse.
Actually, Jishu shrine used to be a place for Ushinokoku Mairi. In Ushikonoku mairi, people visit shrine or temple to curse a person they detest. They were in white clothes and wore trivet as a crown. The crown had candles like the picture above. They stuck a thick nail to the wood through a figurine made of hay. The figurine played a role of a person they wanted to be cursed.
Ushinokoku Mairi was not a way of curse originally. It was a way of making people’s hope come true but it became a way of curse as time goes by.
