To take City Bus1 How to pay fee
Have a bus map and 1-day pass
There are “Bus Ticket Center/バスチケットセンター” in front of JR Kyoto station Karasuma-guchi.
Have a route map (Bus Navi) and Bus & Subway 1-day pass card we discuss in the next chapter.

Most of popular destinations are in the FLAT-FEE Zone Bus 1-day pass (700 JPY) are available.
Rural area, like OHARA , KIBUNE, RURIKOIN and other places are not in the zone.

If you take subway lines, get Subway and Bus 1-day pass for 1,100 JPY.
How to pay fare?
We can bay bus fare with cash, pass cards and IC cards and applications.
We had 3 kinds of pass cards for Kyoto city bus and subway; 1-day bus pass, 1-day subway and bus pass. Now Bus & Subway 1-day pass card is available.
IC cards
We can use PiTaPa, ICOCA, Suika, Kitaca, PASMO, manaka, TOICA, nimoca, SUGOCA, and はやかけん. Make sure they had enough deposit.
To pay bus fare
We pay fare when we get off at front door. Don’t pay it in advance except Express 100 and 101.
- Near front door, there is a machine like this. Put the exact amount of the fare (230 yen all the destinations in this article except Kibune and Yase) into 3.
- For small changes; put 1,000 yen bill into 2 or 500, 100, and 50 yen coins into 1. And have small changes at 4.
- 1 day free pass: Put the pass into 4 on the first use of the day. The card comes off at 5. Make sure the date is printed on the card. From the next ride, show the date to a driver instead of putting the cart into 4.
To take City Bus2 Get on and off
Express 100 and 101
- On: FRONT DOOR and pay fee
- OFF REAR DOOA
Others: Get on
Get on at he rear door.

Attention!
Sometimes, buses wait in line at a bus stop. In this case, we can get on the bus 1 ONLY. 2 and 3 open the front door to let the passengers get off but they don’t open the front door. To take 2 or 3, just wait at the bus stop.

In high season, some buses full of passengers don’t stop at bus stops.
Others: Get off
- Next bus stop is indicated in the display panels near front door or the audio announcement.
- Next bus stop is your destination, press the button near you.

When bus is crowded, we can manage to go to the front door. In this case, say to the driver, “「後ろからおりますぅぅぅぅぅぅ」USHIRO KARA ORIMASU (I’ll get off at the rear door.)!!!
With permission, get off at the rear door and get on again at the fornt door to pay the fee.
