Late March to mid-April
Overview
We have Migoro in many places in Kyoto from late-March to mid-April. Many people think this is the best season to enjoy Sakura. It is hard to foresee when Sakura are in full-bloom because we have many places to see it.
Make sure we can’t have precise forecast!
I divide this period into 2 periods. Be sure we can’t do that with precision.

Earlier in the period
Gion Shidare in Maruyama park, Toji temple, Shidare Zakura in Takasegawa, Someiyoshino near the main hall of Kiyomizudera temple, Chionin temple, Philosopher’s path, Shidare Zakura in Heian Jingu, Shinyodo Temple, Konkai Komyoji temple, Saioh Zakura and Gosho Zakura in Kamigamo shrine, Simogamo shrine, Nanzenji temple, Rokkakudo temple, Shoseien garden, Jyobon Rendaiji temple, Ryoanji, and Kajuuji temple.
Later in the period
Shidare Zakura in the Rock Garden in Ryoanji temple, Arashiyama, Ohara region, Takao region, Haradanien, Byodoin temple.
Attention!
In Kyomizudera temple, Someiyoshino near the main hall bloom around April 1. (the 1st pictre) On the other hand, Shidare Zakura near Saimon gete blooms about 1 week later(the 2nd picture).
In Toji temple, we can enjoy Fuji-Zakura (the pink one in the phot) and the other Sakura. In a couple of days, we can admire both of them. Fujizakura blooms around March 31 and the other Sakura bloom later.
At Ryoanji Zen garden, we can adore three Shidare Zakura but we can enjoy 3 of them in a short period of time. Ryoanji temple has a large garden and it has lots of Sakura. Migoro lasts for about 3 weeks.
In Ninnjaji, many Sakura bloom in this period. Omuro Zakura, the most famous Sakura there blooms about a week later.
Mid-April
Most people believes Omuro Zakura is the last-blooming Sakura in Kyoto. (Actually Kitano Zakura is the last Sakura of year,)
We can find Omuro Zakura in short trees like shrubs. The last year, we expected Reiwa in 2 weeks and there was a stage to commemorate it. If you are interested in the Kanji letters in the stage, check the link below.
When Omuro Zakura in Ninnaji is in Migoro, Haradanien, the famous Sakura place known among Kyoto-enthusiasts, is also in Migoro. We can find Omuro Zakura there, too.
When Omuro Zakura is in full-bloom, Kitano Zakura starts to bloom.
Around April 20
Kitano Zakura is only found in Kitano Tenmangu shrine. We can’t find it in any other places. It starts to bloom around Apirl 15 and lasts for a week.
In this period, most of Sakura has gone away. We can find some Sakura, like Ohshima Zakura and Yokihi (Princess Yang Kwei Fei).
We might find ourselves in the beginning of Green Maple season.
