#7 Rengeji temple 蓮華寺
Overview
Rengeji is also one of the most overlooked place. You might be only visitor usually. In fall, some Kyoto-enthusiast visit there to adore autumn leaves.

The garden
Around the pond, there are many beautiful red, vermilion, and yellow leaves. We can enjoy them with rustling of water.
In the approach, theare many ginko trees. The leaves of them fill the ground as if they made carpet.

About 5 minutes walk from Eiden Miyake Hachiman station.
#8 Ruriko-in temple 瑠璃光院
Overview
Ruriko-in is famous so-called “Yuka momiji.” It is not open to public exept in spring and fall.
Schedule of 2023
Rurikoin temple is not open to public through the year. We can visit it only in spring and fall.
- In 2023, Rurikoin temple is open to us from 1 October to 12 December.
- Open hours: 10:00~17:00 (Entrance closes at 16:30)
- In 2023, we are not allowed to enter Rurikoin without reservation from 1 November to 10 December
- We would make reservation at the website of Rurikoin (in Japanese) in near future. (Not yet announced)
Yukamomiji 床もみじ
Yukamomiji is a way to adore autumn leaves: the reflections of leaves on polished table.
The most stunning moment in Ruriko-in is at twilight. The maple trees are slightly illuminated.
How to get to Rurikoin?
10 minutes walk from Eiden Yase Hieizanguch station.
#9 Enkoji temple 圓光寺
Overview
In Enkoji, we can admire maple trees in many colors with “kawaii” figurine of Ksitigarbha. When leaves start to fall, we must be there.
The garden
In Enkoji, we can see green, yellow, vermilion, and purple leaves as though they turned their colors in front of us.
The pond is the oldest one in north side of Kyoto.

Kyoto city bus: No. 5 Ichijoji sagarimatsu cho bus stop.
Eiden(Eizan rail way): Ichojoji station.
#10 Jakko-in temple 寂光院
Overview
Jyakko-in is located suburb Ohara area in Kyoto city. As described in The Tale of Heike, we can find sadness in the air in the desreted place.
The garden
In complete calmness, you would be relieved to find you are there. That’s the way we feel in Jakko-in.
