Koi yama 鯉山
Koiyama is based on an ancient anecdote. It is believed that a carp becomes a dragon when it manages climb up fall. On this episode, Koiyama has a carp figurine as Gohintai and gives us good promotion and prosperity. Goshintai is an object to which Shinto/Buddhist Deity descend.
Koi yama has a figurine of a carp made by Hidari Jingoro, the most famous sculptor in Edo period.
In front, Koi yama has an amazing thing. It was a piece of tapestry made in 16th or 17th century in Brussels and shows us a scene of The Iliad. The original is a large one and carpanters cut off it into nine pieces with chisels.
As Koi yama, all the Yamaboko is decorated beautifully to make the Deity of Yasaka shrine delighted. Check the link below.
Hachiman yama 八幡山
Hachimanyama has a shrine in stead of Goshintai. Emperor Ojin is enshrined there and there is a small figurine of him on his steed.
Hachiman yama has a figurines of dove on Torii gate. The right ones are authentic made by Hidari Jingoro and the left ones are replicas we can see in the Yamaboko parade.
There are many incredible golden ornaments.
In Kaisho of Hachiman yama, we can admire a Byobu partition called “Gion Raisaizu Byobu.” We can see what Atomatsuri was in Edo period.
Around Hachiman yama Kaisho, there are many houses holding Byoubu matsuri.
