September
19th
We can visit the back side of the stage.
The main hall looks like this.
Due to the renovation, the Omikuji booth is located near Todorokimon. People may wait in line like this.
25th
Nothing happens except Sumikko Gurashi souvenir shop is ready for grand opening.
October
2nd
Nothing has changed. I suppose the carpenters make the new lumbers “get used to” the ones left on the stage.
I’m not sure I can describe what I mean. I mean they ねかす lumbers.
At Jishu shrine, we can admire Fudan Zakura (Sakura blooms in spring and fall.)
13th
The brand-new Koran fence (高欄) is prepared.
I’m sure brand-new Giboushi ornament will be installed.
25th
Koran fence is installed completely. Now the stage looks like this.
November
1st
The stage is on the same way. We had lots of visitors today and it was hard to keep social distancing.
8th
I believed I see bran-new Giboushi on the top of the pillars of the fence in vain.
The Autumn leaves season of 2020 started. The leaves of the Kiyomizudera are getting red.
14th
At last the Giboshi was installed. They are wrapped.
The autumn leaves are in about 50 percent bloom and lots of visitors there.
28th
The stage is still covered with white sheets and visiting area is restricted.
The stage will open to us on 12/3/2020!!!
In the morning, the monks will tell Kannnon that the completion of the renovation and the stage will be open to us in the evening.
December 3th, the renovation completed
December 4th
Yesterday, the whole renovation of Kiyomizudera was completed and it welcomes a calm morning for the first time in 12 years.
The fist photo is taken on today, and the second one is taken on 8 months ago.
The brand-new Giboshi is installed. (The hershey-kisses-looked object of the pillar of the fence.) And the foot of the fence is covered with copper.
The stage was filled with the fresh fragrance of the cypress.
We had the extraordinary Autumn leaves in Kiyomizudera though 2020 was not a good year them. In addition to it, They blooms in December as though they waited for the completion of the renovation.
It is believed that Kannon of Kiyomizudera changes into a Dragon every night. The blue beam in the night illumination stands for the dragon. The dragon of the Seiryue is based on the stroy.
This morning, I saw the clouds resembles dragon.
It’s a good sign, isn’t it? 瑞祥だべ、こりゃよー。もうこっちのもんだべ。
The next renovation will take place some 50 years ago. I hope you could see it, 合掌
