Overview
Kenninji was founded by Eisai/ Yosai (栄西) who introduced Zen to Japan. It is a typical Zen temple and has beautiful gardens including so-called Zen garden/ Karesansui gardens.
And it has famous Fujin Raijinzu Byobu and we can see a replica.

The most beautiful place in Kenninji is Chontei garden. The ocean (or river) is painted in the sliding door emphasizes the colors of autumn leaves. In this garden, we can find three stones in any direction.
Daiyuen (Zen/ Karesansui garden) in not illuminated but it is extraordinary calm. We cannot visit Karesauni gardens at night.
The other side of the garden is illuminated. There is a lone tree with brilliant red leaves.

About 10 minutes walk from Shijokawaramachi bus stop/Hankyu Kwaramachi station.
About 5 minutes walk from Gion bus stop/Keihan Gion Shijo station.
#26 Ninnaji 仁和寺

Overview
Ninnaji is one of the oldest Monzeki temple in Kyoto (Founded in 888). Monzeki is a temple run by a descendants of emperors. Ninnaji is famous for Omuro Zakura in spring and the night illumination of Aomomiji.

Ninnjaji provides us with mirrors. Taking advantage of them, we can enjoy extraordinary Mizukagami.

About a minutes from Omuro Ninnjaji bus stop or Randen Omuro Ninnnaji station.
#27 Yusaitei 祐斎亭

Overview
Yusaitei is an art studio famous for Mizukagami as Rurikoin temple. It is a small cozy place to admire hidden views of Arahisyama.

There are well-polished table in the rooms. We can enjoy the autumn leaves through the unique rounded windows.
Of course ususual Gakubuchi view is available.
Besides, there is a real Mizukagami (Mizukagami means “water mirror.”)

Between Ninose and Kibuneguch station, Eiden railways makes the trees illuminated.
#29 Nijojo projection mapping 二条城プロジェクションマッピング

- Entrence fee 2,000 JPY (Monday to Thursday), 2,400 JPY (Friday to Sunday)
As a part of the projection mapping, some autumn leaves are illuminated. If you would like artificial things or to buy suvenirs, it would be a good place.
