Aomomiji 青もみじ
Aomomijis are autumn leaeves in spring. They are in fresh green. Only few people paid attention to them, but many people visit Kyoto to enjoy them these years.
Tofukuji temple 東福寺
Highlight
Tofukuji is famous for its extraordinary autumn leaves and Aomomiji is also splendid.
Ajisai (紫陽花), or hydrangea, are in full bloom.
Honbo Teien gardens called “Hasso no Niwa.” designed by Shigemori Mirei, the prominent garden artist in the 20th century.

Ninnnaji temple 仁和寺
Highlight
For Ao Momji night illumination, the gate is open to us at 18:00. In May, we are still in dusk.
Around 20:00, we find ourselves in the darkness.
I do love the color of the sky. We can admire it only in early summer.
The color is peculiar to the twilights from early May to Sakimatsuri of Gion Matsuri. When Atomatsuri started, the sky contains blue and red.

Summer 夏
Summer is a season of Matsuris and some shrines and temples are illuminated. In this post, I’ll show you Gion Matsuri and Yoimiya Sai of Fushimi Inari Taisha, and Kyo no Tanabata.

Gion Matsuri is the most famous Matsuri in Japan. In Yoiyamas of Sakimatsuri and Atomatsuri, lots of lanterns are lit to prepare for the deities to come. They provides us with the most fascinating nights in Kyoto.
